November 30th is celebrated as Independence Day and is a national holiday in Barbados. The day begins with an elaborate and impressive parade and ceremony at the Garrison Savannah. However, celebrations run throughout November and include sports competitions, fairs, community events, and religious services.

Start/Finish: Ship Inn - St. Lawrence Gap

RUN BARBADOS NATURE VALLEY 10K RUN

Start/Finish: Bay Street Esplanade
The 10K runs around and through the capital, Bridgetown. This event is held on the bustling Saturday afternoon and generally attracts the biggest field of the Festival.

RUN BARBADOS EXPO & HEALTH FAIR

RUN BARBADOS MARATHON and HALF MARATHON RUNS

5:00am Start/Finish: Bay Street Esplanade. The Half marathon hugs the west coast line and turns around at Holetown, while the full marathon goes the length of the coastline and turns around at Speightstown. Presentations take place after the races.

Holetown Festival

The Festival commemorates the landing of the first settlers to Barbados at Holetown, St. James in February 1627. Highlights include historic tours, street fairs, the Royal Barbados Police Band Concert, a Musical Festival in the historic Parish Church and a Queen Show.

Crop Over

A five-week summer festival and Barbados’ most popular and colourful festival. Its origins can be traced back to the 1780’s, a time when Barbados was the world’s largest producer of sugar. At the end of the sugar season, there was always a huge celebration to mark the culmination of another successful sugar cane harvest - the Crop Over celebration.
